Our Aid for the Flood Victims Has Arrived

The people thank the Ashraya Foundation
The people say ‘thank you’

In the past few days, Tashi had used the donations from our association to procure relief supplies and hired a lorry and a jeep for the transport. Thank you to all the sponsors who responded to our appeal for donations!

He put together a team of volunteers and took the aid to three villages in the municipality of Roshi. Because of the destroyed roads, the villages were difficult to reach. In many places they had to use makeshift tracks.

The picture that the aid workers then saw in Roshi was shocking. Large parts of the valley are covered by a layer of mud and rock that is metres thick in places. The photos here bear witness to the extent of the destruction.

The distribution of the relief supplies went smoothly and in an organised manner. The affected families each received 25 kg of rice, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of lentils and a litre of cooking oil. This covers their basic needs for some time. Tashi also brought biscuits for the children to give them a little treat during this difficult time. Let's hope that the announced government aid will arrive at some point.
