About us
Education is one of the most important steps towards reducing hunger and poverty. We want to make a contribution and help disadvantaged children and young people in Nepal and India to develop freely and attend school.
Love Is Not Just a Word
Heike Yamuna Kiefer took this to heart when she took children off the streets in Nepal in 1995 and brought them to a school and paid for their upkeep. This was the seed that led to the founding of our small charitable association in 2002 with a group of committed friends.

Our Members
Our association is growing and we now have more than 20 members. We are quite international in terms of where we live: Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Austria. And that is enormously helpful: We have 3 members who are originally from Nepal and have been living in Germany since their studies. With their experience of cultural differences and their contacts, questions can often be clarified more quickly and irritations solved more easily or avoided altogether.
Our Compass
By formulating guidelines, we want to give ourselves a compass, bind ourselves to commitments and assure our sponsors that they will be adhered to. Just today, as we are writing this section, we spoke to Katharina, a teacher from Basel, on the phone. She is extremely committed to the WIDE children's home and collects donations through various channels in her school context. She emphasized once again how important transparency, credibility and long-term reliability are for her, that she finds this with us and can therefore feel good about promoting donations to the WIDE Children's Home through Namaste Welfare at her school.
The association statutes and the notice of exemption are the central documents of the association. There are also reports that are of more historical interest to the association: here is a collection of documents, which will continue to grow over time.
